Today I want to share with you the story of Doug Monda. Doug was a Florida cop who, after being injured, suddenly had the weight of the job collapse in on him, driving him to despair and, eventually, to putting a gun to his head and pulling the trigger. Doug survived and today he walks us through his compelling story, how he survived, and how he then wanted to build a program that would be better than the mental health journey he went through.
Doug now runs a nationally recognized non-profit that helps first responders navigate mental health challenges. His goal is to teach cops how to survive first.
Warning: This episode contains discussion of suicide attempts. Listener discretion is advised.
