Show Notes

It's been said that we should "think before we speak and we should read before we think."  Reading good books is critical to building up good leaders.  And while there are countless business leadership books out there filled with pop psychology, surprising statistics, celebrity name-dropping, and tear-jerking illustrations, I think the best leadership books are actually from military history, especially memoirs and biographies of ordinary people who rose to the occasion in extraordinary situations.

My guest today is Captain Keith Falkner.  He's an army veteran, a captain in the patrol division at the Kansas City Kansas Police Department and someone who loves to read military history.  I love talking to people like this who have read extensively on the same topics that I've been enjoying my whole life.  I hope you'll enjoy it too.

Books mentioned in this episode:

  • Battlefield Leadership, by Adolf Von Schell
  • Thunder Below!, by Eugene B. Fluckey
  • If You Survive, by George Wilson
  • Through the Wheat, by Thomas Alexander Boyd
  • Shattered Sword, by Jonathan Parshall, Anthony Tully
  • Infantry Attacks, by Erwin Rommel

Music is by Chris Haugen from the YouTube Audio Library and by Winking Fox Music from Pixebay.
