027 - Building a Non-Profit from Scratch: Suzie Sawyer, C.O.P.S. founder
Today we're talking to Suzie Sawyer, the founder of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS). She tells us how as a law enforcement spouse in the 1970's and later, she took charge and met a need that law enforcement culture was failing to do on its own. With her great sense of humor and purpose, she relates the inspirational story of how she built an organization from scratch that would memorialize fallen officers and take care of their widows and families.
Listen to how law enforcement leadership made the wrong assumptions about grieving families. And don't miss what Suzie identifies as the biggest obstacle to concerns of police survivors doing this good work.
